Frequently Asked Questions

hypnotherapy & past life regression

“your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

- C.G. Jung

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of guided inner work that focuses on the subconscious mind— the part of us where habits, beliefs, emotional patterns and memories are stored. It is considered avocational and vocational self improvement— meant to support personal growth, mindset shifts, and behavioral change— but it is NOT a replacement for licensed psychotherapy or mental health treatment.

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and traditional talk therapy?

Traditional talk therapy (psychotherapy) often works with conscious thoughts and emotions over time to address diagnoses, trauma or complex mental health concerns. While hypnotherapy can be a powerful complement to this work, it is not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure mental illness. That said, hypnotherapy can still offer a supportive framework, helping to ease specific symptoms, reinforce positive changes, and create space for deeper self-understanding as you continue your therapeutic journey.

what do “avocational” and “vocational” self-improvement mean?

These terms refer to areas of your life outside or alongside clinical mental health care.

Vocational refers to goals around work, productivity and performance. Whereas avocational refers to areas of your life such as confidence, motivation, habits, creativity, fear, and general wellness.

Hypnotherapy can be used to support transformation in both of these areas— for example, overcoming fear of public speaking, releasing limiting beliefs, changing habits such as smoking or drinking, improving sleep, and stress management.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by guiding you into a deeply relaxed, focused state— similar to daydreaming or a meditation. In this state your conscious mind quiets, and together we can gain access to the subconscious where deeper beliefs, patterns and emotional imprints live. By working with the subconscious directly, we can begin to reframe old programming, install supportive suggestions, and access inner resources that can help shift you experience from the inside out.

Will I be unconscious or lose control during hypnotherapy?

No. You are always in control during a session. Hypnosis is not sleep— it is a natural relaxed and focused state of awareness that you pass through everyday. Think of the last time you were absorbed in a good book or movie, or just about to fall asleep. You can speak, move, and be aware of everything that is happening in the moment. Therefore, it is a collaborative experience where you are fully capable of guiding your own process and setting boundaries at any time.

Can hypnotherapy help me even if I’ve never been hypnotized before?

Absolutely! Everyone can be guided into a hypnotic state— it is a natural ability. No prior experience is needed. Even if you have worked with another hypnotherapist in the past where it didn’t quite “click”, that does not mean it will not work for you .I approach each session as unique, adjusting techniques to fit you— not a one-size-fits-all formula. This flexible, personalized approach often leads to greater success in reaching relaxed, focused, and effective states of hypnosis for just about everyone.

What kinds of things can hypnotherapy help with?

While every person is unique, common areas people seek support for include but is not limited to:

  • Stress and anxiety management

  • Confidence and self esteem

  • Fear of public speaking or performance blocks

  • Sleep issues

  • Anger management

  • Habit changes (nail-biting, procrastination, eating habits, ect. )

  • Navigating transitions and emotional patterns

  • Inner child healing

  • Spiritual exploration or soul aligned goals

what’s the difference between hypnotherapy and past life regression?

Hypnotherapy focuses on the present life subconscious— helping you understand and reprogram patterns related to your current life experience. It is often more goal oriented and practical, supporting shifts around habits, fears, confidence, and inner alignment.

Past life regression uses a similar hypnotic or trancelike state to access deeper symbolic, or soul-level memories. These may feel literal or often metaphorical and are explored to offer healing insight, emotional release, or spiritual understanding. While both use a trance like state, they serve different (but complementary) purposes and can be blended in a single session if appropriate.

what’s if I don’t believe in past lives — can I still benefit from a past life regression?

Yes! You don’t have to believe in literal reincarnation to receive meaningful insights. Some people experience regression as a symbolic storytelling from their subconscious, while others may experience it as a direct soul memory. Either way, emotional healing, clarity and transformation that comes through is what matters most.

How do I know which type of session is right for me?

If you are unsure, we can explore that together. You are always welcome to book a consultation or reach out with questions. Some people begin with goal based hypnotherapy and later feel drawn to explore past lives. Others feel called to gain soul level insights and later decide to work with the subconscious on a more practical level. I am happy to support which ever way you feel called to follow this path.
